Vertigo Triple Threat

As well as eating a small family's weekly food budget, I finished reading volume 2 of both DMZ and Y: The Last Man this week, and seemingly both stories have picked up dramatically. DMZ in particular is quite enthralling, even if Y's humor is replaced with grit and edgeness. I'm also reading The Filth, which a friend lent to me. Initially being drawn to the book by the cover art and blurb, its becoming one of the most bizzare, twisted and rather wrong things my eyes have seen in a while. Interesting then that I keep reading it. For

Monday Puts the "End" in Weekend :(

Source: Devious Musings

Despite slugging it out like a pack mule in Tibet, I've managed to find some time of my own during the past fortnight. After a great Indonesian dinner out with some of Angela's friends, last weekend I organised a picnic of sorts in St James park with some friends of mine, Angela and some of my new colleagues. (Its always best to invite as many people as possible for these kind of things, as invevitably some will not be able to make it). It turned out to be pretty successfull, and as the weather went from mild to pretty damn

Corrupted Loops For Damaged Bots

Hello all! Yes, I'm very much alive, and just about well. If there is any reason for a lack of posts or updates as of late, its because work has been particularly intensive these past couple of weeks. However, (for any of you who would) fear not! The creativity is as devious as ever... Click for FULL SIZE Soon to be released via the lovely folks at Rec72, "Corrupted Loops for Damaged Bots" is the new album by another of Poland's electronic elite, Orbique. The CD melds together a full mixture of leftfield and ambient beats, topped with a sprinkling of

New Look : "See" What I Did There?

I got a bit of a shock earlier this week when my glasses suddenly decided to kill themselves. Sat a my I desk, I gently pushed them up the bridge of my nose and PING... the frame snapped open and the lens fell out! I can only think of two possible causes.. Either The frame had become terribly brittle, or my index finger has Herulean Strength. Ironically, the week before I had received a letter from Specsavers saying I was due for an eye test! Clearly, they must have hired a crack team of Ninjas to sneak into my room

Turn On, Tune In, Fallout...

When it comes to PC and Console entertainment, I am what the industry would consider a "Casual Gamer". Years ago, my parents would have to drag me away from my Master System II, but these days I'll play a game to have fun, rather than try and complete it to 100% (or similarly collect every achievement..) Most of the time, this manifests itself in the form of online gaming, with titles such as Skate, GRID, GTA and others allowing me to challenge my friends or compete against other players. With these kind of games, its easy to lose sight of

Singapore Day 09

Singapore Day 09

This Saturday, Angela and I went to Hampton Court for 2009's Singapore Day. Organised by the Overseas Singaporean Unit, the day was a completely free event, with the celebrations focused heavily on its cuisine, with many famous and traditional dishes available for all to enjoy. It also had information on developments and new large scale projects currently in progress or scheduled for various areas of the Island City-State, and a host of entertainment in the form of Singaporean performers comedians and singers. Some of Angela's friends from back home had also come to work the event, so it

Apocalyptic Announcement

Source: Devious Musings

We received an email from Lukaz today to say that unfortunately the Chief of the Dev Team working on The Apocalypse : Slincer had found another 2D designer to produce their game's logo. Still, when the full facts are read out it make perfect sense. Both the Dev Team and the 2D designer are Polish, and he also posts regularly on their boards, so he's pretty well known and its much easier for them to communicate and discuss its development. From us at Devious HQ, good luck guys and we look forward to seeing the finished game!

Oodles of Doodles Make Devious Inspiration

Source: Devious Musings

As I briefly mentioned, I've been getting into various Vertigo and Image titles, the main ones being Y: The Last Man and DMZ. "Y" has a humorous and entertaining storyline based upon the simple theme of "what would happen if all but one of the world's men were wiped out, and DMZ is a slick and edgy illustrated look into a second (and modern day) American Civil War, with the fault line ripping through Manhattan island. A far more serious theme, but oozing with just as much cool. A couple of weeks ago, a good friend of mine John invited
